Chris has his cat stuck in a tree, Viktor calls the fire department, Yuuri shows up!! Go go go

cuttlemefishwrites:

Snowball gets stuck on something on an almost weekly basis, which means Viktor gets a lot of calls from Chris panicking about needing help to get the cat down from (a working list): the roof, the top of a new neighbor’s moving truck, or the attic (which has a bat that terrifies Chris). A tree should be no different, except it has an unsteady branch and Viktor is not about to risk potential Olympic glory on Chris’ cat. “Why didn’t you just call your boyfriend?” Viktor groans, staring up at Chris, who is now the one stuck on the tree. Snowball meows petulantly from the comfort of VIktor’s arms.

“And risk him seeing me like this?” Chris squawks, hugging the trunk of the tree.

“How did you even get up that high with such thin branches?”

“The same way that makes it so I can’t get down now. I broke a lot of branches, thinking she was stuck,” Chris gulps. “Oh my god, is that the fire truck I hear in the distance?”

“Yup,” Viktor yells over the sound of sirens. “Hang in there!”

“It was only funny the first ten times, Viktor,” Chris pouts. He almost slips as his hand moves to brush his hair back, “Oh my god.”

Viktor blinks, turning to look over his shoulder, “What? Oh.”

“Viktor, you can go now.”

“Are you kidding me? You have a boyfriend–”

“Excuse me.”

Snowball meows disinterestedly on Viktor’s behalf as a gorgeous firefighter flashes Viktor an apologetic smile. “Were you the one who called about the cat?”

“Well, it was about the cat. Then, it became about my friend here,” Viktor sighs, pointing at Chris. If he remembers correctly, the firefighter had introduced himself as Yuuri. He’d been very nice on the phone, reassuring him it was fine to call for help about a cat.

Chris waves, “Hi.” – And proceeds to squeak when the branch wobbles beneath him again.

“Oh,” the firefighter says, nodding to himself. “I’ll bring the truck a little closer. Hey Phichit, you’re never going to believe this!”
